The 33kV distribution infrastructure was fed from the new 220/33kV Tom Price switchyard bulk supply substation, and consisted of overhead powerlines (OHPL) and underground cables to several substations along the overland conveyor route. All OHPL include the OPGW conductor, and all underground cables included 33kV as well as fiber optic (LTGF) cables.

The works were divided into three areas;

  • Process Plant section; requiring the design and construction of 33kV underground and surface on ladder, and overhead powerline systems through the Company's Utilities and Mine Operations controlled areas;
  • Stockpile section; requiring the design and construction of 33kV underground and overhead powerline systems through intense construction activity and relatively difficult terrain;
  • Syncline section; requiring the design and construction of 33kV underground and overhead powerline systems through relatively unimpeded construction activity, and relatively flat and open terrain;
